Terre Lefferts - Artist!
Good Morning, Nancy Carey Johnson, Singer/Songwriter here. For those of you who don't know about making a CD, there is SO MUCH MORE TO IT than you can possibly imagine! I won't go into the nitty gritty right now, other than to say; not only do you have to think about the disc/music and all it entails, you ALSO have to think about the packaging/artwork and all that entails! I had been thinking and thinking and thinking about what to do for a cover but I had no ideas. My husband kept saying things like, "Surely you have some ideas!" and "You HAVE to know what you want, after all this is your CD!" But the truth of the matter is I'm not the least bit artistic. In fact my art skills are so non-existent that I've literally had people fall on the floor laughing hysterically at my attempts, sigh!
Anyway, about a month ago I was bemoaning all the headaches and heartaches I've gone through with this project including the fact that I hadn't a clue what to do about the cover to my friend Mary Fellows (who is both very kind and very wise). Well, Mary just looked at me as though I had lost my mind and said, "What about Terre?" I stared at Mary thinking, "I had no idea that Terry (Alaberry) http://www.nancycareyjohnson.com/node/69 was an artist as well as a drummer" and so in my infinite wisdom I said, "Who?" Mary patiently said, "Terre Lefferts!" and then the lightbulb went on - big time!
For those of you who don't know Terre Lefferts work, please believe me when I say she is an artistic genius! Her work is just gorgeous and imbues such a sense of beauty and grace. So after leaving Mary's I rushed home, called Terre and told her about the project, about the 1 idea that I had (lest you get the impression that I have an artistic bone in my body, it was not my original idea rather it came from my 2nd son Hunter) and essentially put the ball in her lap. Smart move on my part! Terre listened to what I had to say, thought about me and came up with some wonderful 'roughs' that really embrace both the project and who I am! And now she's going to work on the final artwork - can't with to see them finished and I can't wait to share them with you!
Stay warm on this very cold and snowy December day,
