Why Can't You See

Why Can't You See?" is a good old fashioned heartbreak ballad and the issues surrounding a relationship when a man’s man doesn’t know how to live in such a changed world.. -N.

Chorus:
Why Can’t you see
I gave you
All of me
At times I’ve been down on my knees
Praying for your love

Why can’t you see
You could have had
all of me
I guess it’s finally time
For me to let go

Vs.
All of those years
You owned my love
But all you wanted
Was control
I tried to please you
Give you what you needed
I even offered
My heart and my soul

I gave you myself

Baby Ya Ain't No Good

This tune has sort of a John Hurt or Doc Watson blues feel. It's the first blues tune I ever wrote and Rory Block liked it a lot! -N.

Well you told me baby
You were here to stay
Then when I turned my
Head around
Baby you were on your way

You tell me that you love me
But that ain’t so
You’re trying to get
What you can from me baby
Then you turn and go

My friends tried to tell me
That you ain’t no good
But I wouldn’t listen to them
Now I understood

We had so many good times
You had me laughing all night long
But than ya snuck out in the mornin’ baby

God Bless America (An American Anthem!)

This is a kick-ass LOVE TH IS COUNTRY, country/rock tune. Again, I've gotten UNBELIEVBLE feedback on this one from people in all walks of life. If this ain't a Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Big and Rich tune, I don't know what is! -N.

Vs. 1:
There are those who hate this country
Because it is so strong
But who do they all turn to
When something’s going wrong?
Yes we’ve got dreams
Possibilities and equality for all
And we still heed freedom’s call
We heed freedom’s call

Chorus 1:
So I say
God bless America
But some say that ain’t right

Pink Cowboy Boots

This is definitely a fun, up country "guy" tune, though a lot of women will like this one! We've got a great idea for the video as well! Great for any one who's got the sense of humor sing this kind of song. -N.

She was a cute little redhead
Who caught my eye
In pink cowboy boots
As she sauntered on by
My heart was thumping
Head started to swell
She was ripe and ready
It was easy to tell…

Chorus:
She was hot,
Oh baby she was hot
She was so hot if you touched her
You’re skin would burn
Your hair would curl
And your brain would churn
She was hot
Oh baby was she hot!

Web

Web is a romantic awakening, the kind when you first realize there is something really good going on (even if you are surprised) love song. - N.
(Words and Music by Nancy Carey Johnson)

Vs. 1:
We weave a web
Like a spider weaves its lair
And last night I got tangled
In your glorious hair
For the years we’ve known each other
We’ve been nothing more than friends
Then last night as we came together
The strands began to blend

Vs. 2:
Morning broke
And it’s half past dawn
I know I should go
But I can’t bear to be gone
Though the sun’s rising quickly

This Old House

This is the first song I wrote since the age of 12. The lyrics mirror some true stories of some of the farmers I know. It is a hard look at the realities of farming. There is a saying "Never have so few fed so many for so little". This is the gospel truth. When you're counting your blessings, don't forget all of the very skilled, hardworking farmers who give up riches to be able to work closely with the earth - we owe them a lot! - N.

Vs. 1:
This old house broke down
Ah but the stories it could tell
Of happiness and heartbreak
And sometimes living hell
