God Bless America (An American Anthem!)

This is a kick-ass LOVE TH IS COUNTRY, country/rock tune. Again, I've gotten UNBELIEVBLE feedback on this one from people in all walks of life. If this ain't a Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Big and Rich tune, I don't know what is! -N.

Vs. 1:
There are those who hate this country
Because it is so strong
But who do they all turn to
When something’s going wrong?
Yes we’ve got dreams
Possibilities and equality for all
And we still heed freedom’s call
We heed freedom’s call

Chorus 1:
So I say
God bless America
But some say that ain’t right

As You Are

As You Are" is a beautiful, romantic, song that touches people. The kind of love the song tells of is the kind that all people yearn for in their own lives – to be loved as you are, not as others want you to be. Several people have made the observation "This would be the perfect wedding song!" while others have said, "It's the perfect anniversary song!". My duet partner is the very talented Michael Franklin. What a pleasure to have him sing this song with me!- N.

I don’t want to.
Tell you how to live
And I don’t want to take
More than you can give
And I don’t want you to be

Recipe for Life

I wrote this thinking about how hard life can be and I wanted to encourage people to remember the good things (I'm a chronic optimist). Great for when you're feeling a little down or when you want to inspire someone! - N.

Chorus:
Have a little faith
Give a lotta love
Pursue the good things
That you’ve dreamed of
Practice random acts of kindness
To strangers
Believe in yourself
And embrace each new day

Vs.1:
Take stock of your life everyday
And give thanks for all the good things
That come your way
Don’t compare yourself to others
And what they do
‘Cause you’re not them

Pink Cowboy Boots

This is definitely a fun, up country "guy" tune, though a lot of women will like this one! We've got a great idea for the video as well! Great for any one who's got the sense of humor sing this kind of song. -N.

She was a cute little redhead
Who caught my eye
In pink cowboy boots
As she sauntered on by
My heart was thumping
Head started to swell
She was ripe and ready
It was easy to tell…

Chorus:
She was hot,
Oh baby she was hot
She was so hot if you touched her
You’re skin would burn
Your hair would curl
And your brain would churn
She was hot
Oh baby was she hot!

Web

Web is a romantic awakening, the kind when you first realize there is something really good going on (even if you are surprised) love song. - N.
(Words and Music by Nancy Carey Johnson)

Vs. 1:
We weave a web
Like a spider weaves its lair
And last night I got tangled
In your glorious hair
For the years we’ve known each other
We’ve been nothing more than friends
Then last night as we came together
The strands began to blend

Vs. 2:
Morning broke
And it’s half past dawn
I know I should go
But I can’t bear to be gone
Though the sun’s rising quickly

Desperado

“Desperado” is one of my all time favorite songs to sing. I’d laid down tracks for something else and was just about to leave, when on a lark, I decided to record this song. I only had time for one take and this was the result – my biggest regret is that I didn’t write this one. Ah well, such is life!

The Moon

I love this children's song. My inspiration came one COLD winter night when I was walking a dog for a friend with one of my children. The moon was huge and hung so low on that night it looked as though if you were in the right spot you could jump on it! I hope your children (and you) enjoy this one! - Nancy

The Moon
(Words and Music by Nancy Carey Johnson)

Vs. 1:
The Moon, the Moon,
The moon hangs in the sky
With a twinkle in his eye, The Moon
Some times when it sits so low
We could jump on it and go
With The Moon
Some times I hear it talking to me

Baby Animal Friends

I wrote this song to be interactive with my young friend Ashely Pirrone's book by the same name. It's one of my favorite children's songs that I've written! - N.

Baby Cat is wearing a hat
She wore it while chasing a rat
Her little feet go pittipat
And Baby Cat is wearing a hat (Purrfect)

Baby Dog is playing on a log
He’s rolling and playing leapfrog
He smells a little like a warthog
And Baby Dog is playing on a log (wheeee)

Baby Frog is swimming in the bog.
He’s bigger than a small polliwog
He wants to sing like a bullfrog

This Old House

This is the first song I wrote since the age of 12. The lyrics mirror some true stories of some of the farmers I know. It is a hard look at the realities of farming. There is a saying "Never have so few fed so many for so little". This is the gospel truth. When you're counting your blessings, don't forget all of the very skilled, hardworking farmers who give up riches to be able to work closely with the earth - we owe them a lot! - N.

Vs. 1:
This old house broke down
Ah but the stories it could tell
Of happiness and heartbreak
And sometimes living hell
