Hey there, Nancy Carey Johnson, Singer/Songwriter here. Thought I'd share what I consider some exciting news! As you may know, I am the Creative Director for Mama Bear Productions and one of my 'shopkeepers' also happens to be a Singer/Songwriter. Last year she submitted songs to a songwriting contest and some of the feedback she received wasn't all that complimentary. Earlier this year she sent me an email asking me my advice - Did I think she should enter again this year? I told her that I thought IF she thought this group was on the up and up and not just looking to rip her off then yes, I thought it would be a good idea. I also told her that if she thought the feedback they gave her last year was honest and ACCURATE, then she should take what they said and apply it to her songs. Long story short, before she submitted a song, she asked 2 people to critique it for her. Sadly, they ripped the song apart and then gave her no guidance on how to fix it. Beside herself, she asked me if I'd be willing to give it a listen and offer advice -so I did. We went back and forth and even had a couple of phone conversations about it. I'm DELIGHTED to say that she just received her critique and other than the fact they suggested a couple of small tweaks she could make to her song it was a GLOWING critique!!! I am just so pleased for my friend -I can't tell you how satisfying it is for me to help someone be the best they can be and really have them see the payoff!
