Hi there, Nancy Carey Johnson, Singer/Songwriter here. I found myself laughing about the reason I use my maiden name along with my married name so I thought I'd share. You see, last year I was hired to play a party in Sharon, Ct. Guests in attendance were from Sharon, Lakeville. Salisbury, Lime Rock, Litchfield Hills, Falls Village, Canaan, Norfolk, Torrington and all over Litchfield County, Ct.

I tell you this because for years there was a legislator from Ct. named Nancy Johnson so when I introduced myself to other guests the reaction I got was laughable! Several recoiled in horror and said "Oh no, not THE Nancy Johnson?" while others said "Oh I LOVE Nancy Johnson, she's a really good friend of mine!" Well, I knew right away I had to distinguish myself and so kept saying "No, I'm the OTHER Nancy Johnson" Living in the part of the country that Nancy Johnson was a hot button topic and one where no matter where I went only 1/2 the people would give me a chance, I quickly added my maiden name (Carey) to distinguish myself... and now you know!
